We’d love to introduce you to Sylvie!

Once Sylvie warms up to you, she will reward you with the quietest, deepest kind of love—the kind that’s been waiting a very long time to be found.

Sylvie is a 4 and a half year old female , awho is on the search for something she has never had before—a loving forever home.

She comes from a puppy factory background, which means life didn’t start the way it should have. Before she came into care, she hadn’t experienced much of the world. Everything was new, loud, and confusing. But thanks to her amazing foster parents, she has been learning what it means to be safe, loved… and to just be a dog.

She still hasa long way to go, and she will need a very special family—one that understands that Sylvie may not run into your arms straight away, but with patience, gentleness and time, she will bloom.

Here’s what Sylie is looking for in her new home:

  • A calm, confident resident doggy friend who can help guide her and show her that life is OK. A dog aged between 2 – 10 years is ideal for me. No intact dogs though please.

  • A quiet, safe environment with a secure safe space she can go to when she feels overwhelmed.

  • Someone home most of the time—Sylvie really needs human presence as sge continues learning to trust.

  • A family who understands that small, steady steps will lead to big wins.

  • No cats, please!

Sylvie is not a barker or a digger, and she walk beautifully on a loose lead. She can be left for short periods (if she have a doggy buddy with her), and she is slowly learning how to play. Sylvie even enjoys car rides and has tried swimming—as it turns out, Sylvie is pretty good at it!

We know that Sylvie is not the easiest adoption. But we promise you this: if you open your heart and your home to her, she will reward you with the quietest, deepest kind of love—the kind that’s been waiting a very long time to be found.

Adoption Process

RGRV invests significant time getting to know our Goldies to ensure a perfect match between each dog’s needs and their new home. Ensuring the future wellbeing of both the dog and the new owner is our priority, and a good fit between the dog and the adopter is essential.

Minimum criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for adoption:

  • Age restrictions: we do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 10 years. This policy is strict due to the generally unknown history of our dogs, aiming to minimise potential risks.

  • Home requirements: your residence must have a securely enclosed outdoor area, with fencing and gates at least 1.5 metres high.

  • Yard size: typically, we do not place dogs in homes with small yards (less than the size of a double car garage), unless the dog is elderly and less space is suitable.

  • Housing type: we do not place dogs in apartment blocks, as our dogs generally require more space and a specific living environment.

  • Shelter: your yard must include a covered structural shelter, such as a covered verandah, entertainment area or open garage. A kennel or dog house does not provide adequate shelter.

  • Application process: the adoption questionnaire must be completed by the person(s) who will be named as the new owner(s). We cannot accept questionnaires completed on behalf of someone else, including family members.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

Prioritising Dog Needs: at RGRV, the welfare of our dogs is our top priority. This means that even if your application is approved, there may be a waiting period before a suitable dog becomes available. Your application will be placed on a waitlist during this time.

Waitlist Confirmation: you are required to confirm your continued interest in adopting every three months by emailing info@rgrv.org.au. Failure to confirm within this period will result in removal from the waitlist.

As RGRV is a charity run by unpaid volunteers, we ask for your patience as it may take time to respond to your application.
