We’d love to introduce you to Louie!
Louie is sweet, smart, and eager to learn. He thrives when given new things to learn, so he need a home that will keep his brain busy.
Louie is a nearly six-month-old Golden Retriever, who is on the hunt for his forever home! He doesn’t just need a loving home, he needs a home that understands that he is still a young pup learning the ropes.
Through fostering, Louie has already learnt how to sit, drop, wait, and crate. He still gets super excited when he meet new people or doggy friends, so sometimes he does small happy wee. We are still working on this with him - as well as working on his perchance to pull on the lead, but we have found that training him with treats help a lot with this!
Here is what Louie needs in his forever home:
A family who understands that he is still a puppy and will keep up with his training and socialisation.
If you have children, older kids would be best since he gets a bit bouncy with his love!
At least one other confident and calm doggy friend as he loves having company and do well when he has a buddy to hang out with.
An active home that will give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and training to keep his brain and paws busy.
A family that loves adventures! Louie travels well, is not anxious when out and about, and he LOVE swimming!
Louie is sweet, smart, and eager to learn. He thrives when given new things to learn, so he need a home that will keep my brain busy - as otherwise he might make his own fun, which may not be appropriate!

Adoption Process
RGRV invests significant time getting to know our Goldies to ensure a perfect match between each dog’s needs and their new home. Ensuring the future wellbeing of both the dog and the new owner is our priority, and a good fit between the dog and the adopter is essential.
Minimum criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for adoption:
Age restrictions: we do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 10 years. This policy is strict due to the generally unknown history of our dogs, aiming to minimise potential risks.
Home requirements: your residence must have a securely enclosed outdoor area, with fencing and gates at least 1.5 metres high.
Yard size: typically, we do not place dogs in homes with small yards (less than the size of a double car garage), unless the dog is elderly and less space is suitable.
Housing type: we do not place dogs in apartment blocks, as our dogs generally require more space and a specific living environment.
Shelter: your yard must include a covered structural shelter, such as a covered verandah, entertainment area or open garage. A kennel or dog house does not provide adequate shelter.
Application process: the adoption questionnaire must be completed by the person(s) who will be named as the new owner(s). We cannot accept questionnaires completed on behalf of someone else, including family members.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
Prioritising Dog Needs: at RGRV, the welfare of our dogs is our top priority. This means that even if your application is approved, there may be a waiting period before a suitable dog becomes available. Your application will be placed on a waitlist during this time.
Waitlist Confirmation: you are required to confirm your continued interest in adopting every three months by emailing info@rgrv.org.au. Failure to confirm within this period will result in removal from the waitlist.
As RGRV is a charity run by unpaid volunteers, we ask for your patience as it may take time to respond to your application.
